Strength & Conditioning – Graduate Assistant

Job Description

Sam Houston State University Athletics is currently accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant position in Strength & Conditioning, available immediately. Under the supervision of the Associate Athletics Director for Strength & Conditioning, this position will be responsible for developing programs for Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Women’s Bowling, and assisting with Football.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: •Assisting strength & conditioning staff with development, design, and implementation of programming for other teams •Working in coordination with other support staffs such as Sports Medicine and Sports Nutrition •Learning and assisting with data collection, organization, and presentation using various VBT, GPS and digital technologies. •Assist with On-Campus Recruiting events and presentations •Overseeing, instructing, and mentoring student interns •General weight room supervision, maintenance, and facility up-keep.

SHSU Strength & Conditioning will commit to assisting with our Graduate Assistant’s preparation and opportunity to sit for the CSCCa written and practical examination. We will provide an Approved CSCCa Mentor, 640hr of practicum/internship hours, and assist with certification fees, examination fees, and conference fees.

Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related fields and acceptance into Sam Houston State Kinesiology graduate program (Online). Qualified candidates must hold CSCS or CSCCa certification and First Aid/CPR/AED certification within the first 3 months of acceptance, if not currently certified.
