Job Description

The Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited (“HKSI”) is the Government’s designated organisation to provide the high performance training system for eligible sports. The HKSI’s mission is to provide an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena benchmarked at Major Games results. We are now inviting suitable candidates for the following vacancy:

The Job

Reporting to the Sport Nutrition and Monitoring Manager, the Senior Sports Dietitian will be responsible for the following duties:

  • To conduct individual nutritional and anthropometric assessment and advise on optimal nutritional and energy requirements for sports specific performance and health;
  • To provide training monitoring on biochemical responses of athletes;
  • To provide local and overseas on-field support to sports teams;
  • To provide data interpretation, and report writing and timely feedback to coaches;
  • To analyse and make recommendations to the athlete’s food provision;
  • To coordinate budgetary and inventory control of nutritional supplements and consumables;
  • To assist the Sport Nutrition and Monitoring Manager on administrative duties;
  • To lead research projects;
  • To lead in new project and research planning;
  • To supervise junior staff; and
  • To perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

The Requirements

  • A master or higher degree in nutrition and dietetics or other related discipline;
  • A registered dietitian qualification is a must;
  • A minimum of 5 years working experience in sport nutrition;
  • Proven experience in the delivery of elite level sport nutrition programmes;
  • Proven experience in leading and supervising a team;
  • Excellent interpersonal and planning skills;
  • Be able to work irregular hours and perform under pressure;
  • Have a good command of both English and Chinese. The ability to speak Putonghua is a definite advantage; and
  • Awareness/ knowledge of Child Protection in sport and equal opportunity issues in the context of Hong Kong are an added advantage.
