
Director of Player Personnel (Football)
Job Description
Northern Illinois University (NIU) is accepting applications for the position of FB Director of Player Personnel. This is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits. Reporting directly to the Head Coach Football, this position will coordinate the day-to-day recruiting operations and logistical processes for the NIU Football program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison between all departments on recruiting matters (compliance, student services, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, travel, business, facilities, housing, parking, tickets, etc.).
- Serve as an ambassador of the University and the Athletics Department to all Public entities.
- Any & all other duties assigned by the Head Football Coach and Director of Football Operations.
- Be committed to the compliance process and assist with rules-education for the staff.
- Keep records & monitor compliance of coaches staff’s contacts & evaluations of prospects.
- Monitor and work collaboratively with the staff to keep them updated on rules-education and changes to NIU, MAC, and NCAA guidelines.
- Manage and monitor the football program’s recruiting budget in regards to coaches travel, official visits, and in house operational costs.
- Coordinate submission of required paperwork for budgeting, expense reports, receipts, and reimbursements.
- Responsible for the use and maintenance of the department’s Purchasing Card (PCard).
- Oversee recruiting travel logistics for all NIU coaching staff and prospective student-athletes, including in home visits, school visits, official visits, and unofficial campus visits.
- Manages, recruit, hire, and supervise the recruiting operations and creative media staff.
- Support the educational mission of the University and the professional obligation to enhance intercollegiate athletics by providing opportunities to educate students interested in this field through internship opportunities and student worker positions.
- Cultivate, establish, and maintain relationships with high school and/or junior college coaches and other appropriate entities and/or parties.
- Coordinate personal & the assistant coaches’ recruiting correspondence with prospective student-athletes, high school and/or junior college coaches and other appropriate entities and/or parties
- Coordinate permissible social media graphic design creation to provide unique and personalized graphics for prospective student-athletes.
- Supervise coordination and execution of all official visits, unofficial visits, junior days, and game day visits to campus. Including creation, logistics, and communication of itineraries, travel, hotel, hosts, meals name tags, seating charts, compliance paperwork, guest speakers, complimentary tickets, etc.
- Manage the recruiting database.
- Coordinate the maintenance of accurate recruiting profiles on top targets, including athletic data, statistics, measurables, background information, evaluation tapes (highlights & cutups) for staff review.
- Oversee, organize, and update recruiting board & coaches communication lists.
- Organize prospects & high schools for staff by area and position to ensure recruiting efficiency.
- Monitor permissible recruiting websites & outside vendors which provide updates on prospects to assist in identifying and continuous information gathering.
- Coordinate the identification, evaluation, and information collecting of prospective high school, junior college, & transfer portal recruits through available and permissible sources.
- Provide direction, input, and makes recommendations to the Head Coach and coaching staff.
- Along with Head Football Coach; develop, implement, and manage the strategic plan for recruiting prospective student-athletes to become Huskies. Including recruiting structure, vision, & direction.
- Plan and supervise execution of twelve (12) month vision of Recruiting Calendar including the creation of mail, video, graphics, social media, recruit visits, and any other means of recruiting.
- Assist the Head Coach with formulating plans to address roster management & attrition issues, by analyzing and identifying strengths, weaknesses & trends for both NIU and other programs.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum two years of NCAA Division I Football experience.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and travel.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules regarding recruiting in the sport of Football.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
