AFLW Sports Trainer

Introduction:

We are seeking Sports Trainers to join our AFLW Medical Team for the upcoming season and beyond.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands on experience within elite sport and contribute to a high-performance environment. We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for sport, particularly women’s sport, who is eager to build practical experience within the AFLW environment and positively contribute to our culture.

Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Strapping and taping
  • Providing massage therapy
  • Liaising with coaching and medical staff regarding player injury management
  • Assisting with training and game day hydration requirements (running water)

Availability Our preference is for your availability to attend:

  • At least two training sessions per week (2 to 4 hours)
  • Match days (4 to 5 hours)
  • There is flexibility across training and match days where required.

Schedule Training (commencing 11 May):

  • Monday: 9am to 2pm
  • Tuesday: 11am to12.30pm
  • Wednesday: 12pm to 4pm
  • Friday: 12pm to 4pm

Massage Therapy

  • Tuesdays 11am-12.30pm (pre season)
  • Friday or Monday (in-season)

Match day:

  • During the AFLW season, running on alternating days of the weekend depending on the fixture

Skills and Experiences:

What You Need

  • Level 1 Sports Trainers Certificate or equivalent, or currently completing
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Demonstrated hands on massage therapy and taping experience
  • Valid Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one

Licenciado en Actividad Física (Universidad del Salvador) y Especialista en Fisiología del Ejercicio (Universidad Nacional de La Plata). Cuenta con dos maestrías internacionales: MSc. Strength and Conditioning (University of Greenwich) y MSc. Complex Systems in Sports (Universitat de Barcelona).

Está certificado por la National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) como Certified Performance and Sports Scientist (CPSS), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) y Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). Además, se desempeña como docente en la Universidad del Salvador.

Actualmente es CEO de Comunidad LIFT y NSCA Manager LATAM, liderando proyectos de formación y desarrollo profesional en ciencias del deporte. También se desempeña como Director of Data Science & Performance Innovation en Utah Soccer (Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals y Real Monarchs), donde lidera la estrategia de innovación, análisis de datos y sistemas de rendimiento a nivel organizacional.

Ha ocupado roles destacados como Coordinador de Rendimiento en la Selección Mexicana de Fútbol y Sports Scientist en HUDL, integrando ciencia aplicada, tecnología y metodología contemporánea en el alto rendimiento.
