Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Job Description

The head strength and conditioning coach reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and will be responsible for all aspects of design, development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of strength and conditioning programs for approximately 400 student-athletes competing in 21 intercollegiate programs (work in collaboration and partnership with football) at the NCAA Division II level. The Head Coach will work cooperatively with coaching and athletic training staff to develop team and individualized programs in a positive and motivating environment. Provide insight regarding health and nutrition as it relates to physical development. Responsible for oversight and maintenance of two weight rooms and all equipment. Responsible for the oversight of budget, staff, and administrative processes related to the strength and conditioning program.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a credentialed strength and conditioning coach
  • Credentials and membership in nationally recognized strength and conditioning organization ( NSCA   CSCS  or equal).
  • Current First aid,  CPR  and  AED  certification.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness and proficiency in the design and teaching of strength training and conditioning theory and technique.
  • Knowledge and ability to teach speed, agility and flexibility training.
  • Understanding of basic nutritional guidelines as they pertain to athletic performance.
  • Ability to motivate both male and female intercollegiate athletes.
  • Ability to identify strengths and deficiencies in student athletes’ technical and physical execution and the ability to design individual workouts to address those issues to maximize performance.
  • Ability to develop relationships and effective communication with sport coaches and others within an intercollegiate athletic department.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with college student athletes.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups.
